"First lady Michelle Obama and Pentagon officials announced the effort Thursday during a visit to Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas, where the military has been experimenting with ways to improve the quality and variety of foods served on base. The first lady toured a gleaming cafeteria line, then announced the program in a dining hall filled with service members whose plates were overflowing with salad greens, broccoli and whole grains."

Yeah, so while she's feeding her kids greasy ribs, our troops who are RISKING THEIR LIVES will be fed like a bunch of yuppie Californians closing a movie deal. By the way, when was the last time you met a bodybuilder who got big eating broccoli? Our troops need BEEF, they need PROTEIN. That's how they get the muscles they need to do their job. They don't need some fatass first lady telling them what to eat. And yeah, Moo Cow Obama does have a fat ass. I'd like to see her undergo basic training before telling our kids and our troops what to eat.
“You all look really good, really fit,” she told the airmen. “Thank you for eating your vegetables. We need you strong.”
She encouraged healthy habits during a visit with individual airmen at their tables.
“Don’t worry, you’ll be a vegetable guy soon,” she reassured one airman.

I feel sorry that the troops that have to put up with this BS. How do you do it guys? I can understand loving America but loving Obama? How is that possible? Now I'm no military expert, but the First Lady is not a commanding officer so she has NO RIGHT to tell a soldier whether she needs them strong or not. Her job should be to smile, shake hands, and SHUT THE F-WORD UP! She's not even a NUTRITIONIST, what does she know about food? Nothing! She probably gets her ideas from those stupid fitness magazines.
"About a quarter of entry-level candidates for the military are too overweight to serve or to make it through their first enlistment, according to the Pentagon. And the Defense Department spends $1.1 billion a year on medical care related to excess weight and obesity."
Yeah, the same DOD that double bills, orders more food than they need, and screws the numbers up? You're gonna trust those guys? Besides, that $1.1 billion figure is dubious, nowadays doctors are too eager to blame everything on obesity, it's a bunch of BS. My grandfather was super skinny and he had DIABETES, explain that to me.
“We are intent on focusing on preventable illnesses to help our people stay out of our clinics and hospitals by improving their physical condition,” said Dr. Jonathan Woodson, assistant secretary of defense for health affairs."
Yeah, this is exactly what I hate about so-called "preventative" medicine, it's just a con for doctors to tell you what to do whether it works or not.
"He said surveys in the mid-1990s found that about 1 out of 50 members of the armed services had weight problems. By about 2005, the figure was 1 in 20 service members."
Why not mention the perfectly good soldiers that were discharged not because they did anything wrong but because some BMI-chart said they were wrong? This "weight problems" paranoia is ridiculous, not every soldier serves in infantry, and some of the infantry soldiers might have a few extra pounds but still do their jobs really well. Of course, if the soldier performs an office job then why is his weight any business of ours? A few years ago they had a fat Airman on The Biggest Loser, he had an office job and lost a ton of weight. Big freaking deal, besides the self-esteem boost created by a shallow society where looks matter more than character, is he going to type faster now that he's skinny? Will he have more energy? And even if the military did have a weight problem, THAT'S NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE FIRST LADY!
